  cup Pigeon peas (Toor Dal)
 ¼ cup Split yellow peas (Moong Dal)
 1 Chopped tomato
 1 Chopped big onion
Cooking sauce ingredients
 Chppoed coriander, Curry leaves,
 ½ tbsp beaten garlic
 ½ tbsp coriander seeds powder
 Red spices, salt, mustard, cumins, hing, turmeric,
 ½ tbsp garam masala
 dried fenugreek leaves (kasuri methi)
 2 Red chillies

How to make Dal fry recipe


Preparation for Dal fry

In a mixing bowl, mix Pigeon peas (Toor Dal) and Split yellow peas (Moong Dal) with water and keep it for 1 hour.

Now, pour our Dal in a cooker pot. Then add oil, turmeric and hing. Get two whistles of cooker.
If you have not soaked dal for 1 hour then get 4 whistles of cooker.

Take our cooker pot from cooker and let it cool down.

Now stir well cooked dal with stirrer. Feel the softness of dal.

In a frying pan add some oil or ghee. Make it hot then add mustard, cumins, curry leaves.

add two green chilles and saute it well.

In this mixture add chopped onion, turmeric, hing and beaten garlic and again saute it till onion get golden in color.

Again with addition of Red spices and coriander seeds powder, Saute it for couple of minutes..

Add chopped tomato and salt. Then saute it properly till onion and tomato blended completely. It may take upto 5-6 minutes.

Lets add stirred mixed dal in it and mix it well

Pour 1/2 cup water. Quantiry of water depend upon consistency of dal. Water will evaporate while boiling so we have to think on that while pouring water.

Add salt and Chpped coriander in dal and mix it again.

Boil it for 2 minutes and add Garam Masala. I love to add Garam Masala at the end because it feels me better flavor.

Take some dried fenugreek leaves (kasuri methi) in one hand and crush it by another hand.

Then add dried fenugreek leaves (kasuri methi) in Dal.

Boil it on low flame for 5-6 minutes.
Feel the delicious smell of dal fry. Serve hot with Jeera Rice or any other rice or Roti!
